On the 4th October, the first tournament of the National Saltwater Kayak Fishing Club was held in Peniche, Portugal. A total of 52 fishermen participated! This event was organized by the Forum Kayakfishing http://kayakfishing.forumeiros.com and with the support of the Municipality of Peniche. A special permit for the location was required and it brought us together for the competition. It was quite a sight to see all the colorful kayaks decorating the beach of Broken. They attracted a lot of attention from curious onlookers. Two companies were represented; Watertech and SIPRE. There were several types of kayaks with each one accessorized by their owners, all different. The start was given at 9:00 with everyone returning at 14.00. It was quite a spectacle to watch dozens of kayaks leaving the beach heading for the coast of Chat. The fireman of Peniche provided on water safety, and fortunately their services weren’t needed. After the competition there was the well-deserved lunch that included fish caught during the tournament. Lunch was followed by distribution of prizes and there was a raffle among all participants. The prizes and raffle items were supplied by the sponsors. |
