Oahu Kayak Fishing E-mail

Aloha KFM readers. I am proud to announce that i will be contributing a monthly report to Kayak Fishing Magazine. Special thanks to the KFM crew for this opportunity. My name is David Elgas better known as Boogie-D around the globe. I was born in California and have spent the last 22 years living on Oahu's famous north shore coast. I was given the name Boogie-D by the north shore community because of the big waves I surfed on my boogie board. Kayak fishing has been one of the funnest things to happen to me. It's kind of a combination of the things I love. It combines fishing, with the feel of surfing, and the solitude of skydiving. I got completely hooked on the sport.

My passion for kayaking and kayak fishing led me to start a guided kayak tour company to help others enjoy what I love so much. My link is www.coastalkayaktours.com  We specialize in small, private, coastal kayak tours down the famous north shore coast. These tours are a one way ride. We use the currents and wind to help push us along. We use a small pick up, and trailer, as well as the public bus, to get us back up and around the coast.

We offer coastal fishing as well as deep sea fishing. These tours are a lot of fun and I feel so lucky to be out there on a daily basis. The fishing gets really good and we see a lot of marine life including turtles, dolphins, and monk seals. Lately the whales have returned to Hawaii and they are the BIG feature right now. We have literally been surrounded by them at times. The near shore fishing has been good but the outside has slowed due to rough weather access.

I took a couple of kayak anglers out the other day on the coastal run and they both hooked up. It was a blast. We got real close to some whales and the excitement level got pretty high for both of them. The photos are from the recent trip. Over the upcoming season I will be sending regular fishing up dates from the Haw aiian islands along with stories and pictures.

If there is any information you readers might like to read about, feel free to e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   Aloha and good luck fishing in the up coming season. Boogie-D
