The Ultimate Kayak Seat Cushion – the LTV Cushion

                I first started using a cushion in the early days of my becoming a kayak fisherman. I remember a post somewhere of an angler who started using an air pillow as a butt pad. I tried one and was hooked.  Since then a number of companies have offered a variety of cushions. Some use gel, while others used foam, air or a combination of both. The latter are my favorites but there’s one thing they all seemed to have in common. The weak link was the air value and in time many of them failed.

                I recently became aware of what I consider the ultimate kayak seat cushion, the LTV when nj4x4fever (Dennis) made a post on the forums. My reaction was at $89.95 it better be great. I contacted the company and got one in to use and report on. To back up a bit this is a cushion designed for sitting chairs and wasn’t intended as a kayak cushion. Dennis was the first to use it as such and boy am I glad he did. As I type this review I’m sitting on mine now. The cushion consists of 2 parts. There’s the actual waffle designed air cushion and the zippered case. When using it for a computer chair or in my truck I use it with the case but for the kayak I take it out. The LTV comes with a hand pump but it easily inflates via a breath so I don’t use the pump.

                I started using mine immediately on my computer chair and in my truck. We had a bunch of lousy weather so it was several days before I got a chance to use it on the water. When I finally did it was nirvana. This is by far the most comfortable cushion I’ve ever used. $89.95 isn’t cheap neither is this cushion. I’m thrilled with mine and I’m sure you will be as well.
