February 7, 2011, DALLAS – Heroes on The Water (HOW) today formally announced the commissioning of its new Board of Directors.

"This group has been working diligently with us for months, volunteering their time, energy and talents to help take our organization to the next level, and it's long overdue that we officially announce their formally joining us," said HOW founder Jim Dolan, a former U.S. Air Force C-130 pilot and Air Force Academy graduate. "I'm blown away not only by their commitment to our wounded troops, but also by their incredible backgrounds. This is truly a world-class group, and it's an honor to be working with them."

In addition to Dolan, the HOW Board includes:

• Mr. Robert Aiken, business leader, recent wounded combat veteran in the Global War on Terror

• Mr. Alex Blue — accomplished attorney and former U.S. Marine

• Mr. Mark Crumblish — business executive, entrepreneur, formal Navy officer/aviator and Naval Academy graduate

• Mr. Dee Elliott — business executive, entrepreneur, success non-profit executive, former Navy officer and Naval Academy graduate

• Mr. Andrew Zimmermann, entrepreneur, and CEO of Legacy PaddleSports

New Board member Dee Elliott explained how he learned about HOW. "Jim (Dolan) spoke at a Naval Academy Alumni luncheon here in Dallas, and I was immediately drawn to the mission," said Elliott. "He spoke from the heart, and his passion for our troops was so powerful that I just felt compelled to contribute in the best way I know how: by getting involved. I'm thrilled to be involved in such a terrific cause."

Dolan cited the commitment of all of the Board members. "This is an action-oriented team, not merely an advisory group. They have quickly gelled, meeting regularly to figure out what needs to be done, and they make things happen."

"This group has helped our organization mature in record time, and will be instrumental as we grow rapidly over the next several years. I'm excited about HOW's future, and can clearly see HOW exceeding our goal of serving 10,000 veterans per year by 2015."

Heroes on The Water is a non-profit organization that helps injured service members with their physical and mental recovery using the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. Every HOW event across the country brings together wounded military personnel for guided kayak fishing excursions. Founded in 2007, HOW has served more than 3,000 veterans. The service is provided to the veterans for free. HOW is a non-profit educational organization under IRS Code Chapter 501(c)(3). Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
